Your childhood has passed away.
It seems like only yesterday-
you greeted me with such delight.
I tucked your smile in at night.
And suddenly the beam was gone-
your adulthood became the dawn.
When did you flee, my dear?
I truly need you here.
Now I may only pray and yearn-
for those lost days to yet return.
I know they’ll never be the same.
I know they’ll hold a different name.
But on that name, my little dove,
could we still speak of things that love?
Of deeper waters traveled through-
of all the memories we once knew-
A sweet embrace of me and you.
Wow I really like that expression in poetry! Something we can all relate to especially as the years pass on….

Beautiful! And my sentiments exactly. Over the years and at different times, I have sort of grieved certain times of my life knowing they have passed by for good. Of course, new memories we make in the present like having grandchildren, take away the sadness.
